Upon waking up in the morning, when you become conscious of the world around you, you have a choice.
You can either slip into following logical habitual pathways engraved in your mind, or you can allow yourself to follow the pathways inspired by and created from listening within.
What does this have to do with bringing your purpose to life?
Your values come from deep within.
They are a reflection of what deeply motivates you. And, they are puzzle pieces linked to your purpose.
I did my first ever values exercise in 2014. The exercise was incredibly helpful and I was fascinated by my list of values, yet I remember thinking that it felt a bit ‘heady’ and that I wanted a deeper connection to my values.
Heady or not, something happened after I had elicited that first set of values.
Slowly, I became aware of a pull to shift my focus to what my purpose and role may be in this lifetime. I heeded the call and dove deeper into exploring my gifts.
Come spring 2016, I had reached a fork in the road. I was facing the need to make an important decision.
As part of my decision-making process, I felt inspired to explore my values in a different way. To create a process of my own that would bring the deeper connection that I’d always wanted. And to my surprise, the values elicited in this process wanted to be called “soul’s values”.
Bowled over by the power of the process and the result, I didn’t just end up with a list of words for my wall. I had a path to connect with my values in three different ways: intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
Curious, I tried the process on a client and saw wonderful results. Clients have since made comments saying they feel more certain about who they are and why they do what they do, that the process allowed them to tap their potential, and that the soul’s values work has changed their life.
It took me a little while to put my new and expanded set of soul’s values first.
But once I did my life changed, exponentially.
Within a couple of weeks my life started to shift. There was a growing desire to make changes to how I was showing up. I saw clearly how situations or relationships weren’t in alignment with what was important to me, and I decided to surrender and trust that being true to my soul’s values would lead me beyond what I believed to be possible.
Since then, my body of work has grown. My understanding for what I’m here to do in this lifetime, my purpose, has continued to evolve and deepen in unison with it.
I’m miles beyond what I used to believe was possible.
I’ll close with two tips for how to bring your purpose to life:
1. Look to who you need to be to live in alignment with your values.
2. Being in alignment with your values will bring your purpose the nourishment it needs to come alive and to flourish.
If this has sparked curiosity and you want to read a bit more about soul’s values you can do so here.
Until next time!
